Quality Assurance

Townsend’s commitment to our customers is one of total satisfaction and fulfilment. Product quality forms an integral ingredient of that commitment and to ensure that quality standards are met, we maintain an accredited quality management system. In order to satisfy the stringent requirements of the sheet metal manufacturing industry, we maintain accreditation by Lloyds Register Group to AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000.

Our policy is that quality assurance is not restricted to final product inspection, but rather an integrated system of standards and procedures which are applied at every work centre throughout the manufacturing cycle.

An ongoing review of new materials and manufacturing technologies ensures that Townsend Group is in a position to provide innovative quality solutions to the most challenging of projects.

Engineering

We work with our customers to provide the full solution to their requirements, from the initial enquiry, through design and manufacture, and culminating in final delivery. Townsend Group’s engineering department provides in-house 3D modelling capability using Solid Edge technology. Having this technology allows us to simulate virtual assembly’s where component fit and function is fully developed and tested prior to any manufacture.

Our preference is for Solid Edge file formats, but we have the capability to open and work with several other electronic file types including Solid Works, Unigraphics, Parasolid, IGES, STEP, ACIS and Auto CAD.

In addition to the engineering and drafting software, we also utilise the latest in computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software for programming our CNC machinery. This manufacturing software includes Bysoft, Jetcam and EnRoute.

Quotations and Sales

Townsend’s are dedicated to being a competitive supplier of both custom made and architectural components and products, as well as providing exemplary levels of service to our customers. Our sales staff’s preparedness to assist customers at the preliminary stages of a project, provides significant benefits to all parties by way of early assessment of cost-effectiveness and buildability.

Our engineering, production and installation personnel work closely with our sales teams in the preparation of customer quotations and tenders. From the manufacture of a simple bracket, through to a complicated bespoked building contract, our sales teams are suitably equipped and qualified to handle all customer requirements.

Manufacturing & Project Control

As a means of monitoring a job, from the initial enquiry through to and including the final delivery, Townsend’s Custom Made division have installed a powerful software programme - iTMS. This program is a flexible resource planning platform which is fundamental for estimating, scheduling, ordering, recording and reporting manufacturing performance.

It can be modified to suit departmental and company requirements in order to streamline processes and increase efficiencies. Reporting functions can be manipulated to present in a logical format, and data can be extracted to form the basis for analysis.

Because of these features, iTMS can assist in the improvement of efficiencies throughout the business, reflecting in the results of key business performance indicators. Being a flexible system, iTMS can be used by businesses manufacturing for stock, and businesses manufacturing to order.

The Architectural division of Townsend’s also utilise powerful software solutions for monitoring the progress and programming of site related activities. The programmes being used for the control of site works include, but are not limited to Microsoft Project, Prima Vera, Project Web, Aconex and Project Centre.
